This is a little off topic but as I have been doing a bit of science history research lately I wanted to share this one.
For anyone who loves old books, Project Guttenberg is an incredible online resource. Over 56,000 books in different languages, on different subjects, are available for free and they have a wonderful science collection which you can find here.
The site was started by Michael Hart in 1971 with the goal to “break down the bars of ignorance and illiteracy”. There is something for everyone on this site – classics by Oscar Wilde and Jonathan Swift, to fossil butterflies, to the 1911 guide for women “Modern Marriage and how to bear it”
It’s a fascinating website, so check it out when you have a chance.
